What a typical daily overview might be at any of our schools...
- Professional instructors help you define your efforts and sharpen your focus, regardless of your experience. Ask someone who's been to one of ours, or who's been to someone else's school. Take a look at the Message Board for their comments. There IS a difference!
Check-In at most schools is 8:00 A.M. the first day. Classroom Sessions can run as late as 8 to 10:00 P.M. the first and second day of the school. We want to cover as much as possible while you are there. The last day is normally over mid to late afternoon but depends on how much livestock you want to get on that day. We don't work by the hour. We work for you and we stay until you are finished!
The first half of the first day at every school we do student check-in, make sure all students have the right gear (theirs or ours) and set up or tune up as needed the equipment. We sure each student has quality gear that meets their needs (A full line of Pro Gear FREE for student use as needed at all schools). We do a number of drills and practice, as well as staff lectures, demonstrations, and review of the various aspects of the bucking chute procedure, riding skills, dismounts techniques, etc.
We WILL ride bucking stock the first afternoon. We follow the every section of riding with video review of the student rides. We have an open classroom session with the staff that includes special guest speakers, rodeo training and entertainment films, student handout and teaching materials, etc.
The second, third, and fourth (on four day sessions) days of the school will start with bucking stock at 9 am. Again, we follow the same routine with expanded review and training after each session of bucking stock. We ride again right after lunch.
We have an expanded Pro Staff so we have someone at the bucking chutes (making sure things go right for the students) and someone in the arena (to discuss every ride when a student gets off) at all times. Depending on the location and size of the school there may be multiple staff in your event. We always have the best staff to student ratio in the sport of rodeo.
- We'll cover every aspect of rodeo: from explaining what quality gear is, how to identify and size it, and how to set it up, and how to use it correctly. We show each student how to correct ride techniques and learn new fundamentals and skills for your event.
We explain and practce the correct dismount (pick up men for BB and SB, normal dismounts and hang up procedures for BR) and perfect bucking chute techniques & safety concepts in all events.
We have open ended evening classroom sessions to cover any and all aspects of the rodeo business that you want to discuss (travel, money management, sponsorships, training and conditioning, traveling partners, where to go after the school, etc.).
- You work with Bucking Stock that fits your age, experience, athletic ability and goals as closley as is possible. There's NO LIMIT on how many head of bucking stock you can get on during the schools. That will depend on YOU, your physical condition, your ability, and your attitude. We'll do whatever it takes to help you reach your goals. Please Note: We do rodeo events and the animals are not trained. We work hard to match the livestock with your abilities but we can't make you an athlete, change your mental or physical condition, or help you loose weight in a three or four day session. Come into this realizing that Rodeo is NOT T-Ball.
- You work on different training drills and with the top design training units, "Il Toro" (the newest and most exceptional bull riding training unit ever built!) and, coming soon, "Il Cavallo" (the training unit for Bare Back and Saddle Bronc Riding). These are the best tools in rodeo today. You'll agree once you use them as well as leave the school knowing how to practice at home with a saddle horse, a simple bale of hay, a barrel, or some easy to make spurring boards, etc. Even if you don't own an "Il Toro" or "Il Cavallo" you'll know How and What to practice between bucking stock and competitions.
- SANKEY RODEO SCHOOLS is the ONLY Rodeo School to provide a complete line of Professional Rodeo Equipment for FREE OF CHARGE for student use as needed. We do so at all of our rodeo schools.
The only essential items we do not provide for student use are the boots... (for SADDLE BRONC RIDING - no ropers, no lace ups, and no rubber soles... for both function and safety reasons). Obviously we like the rodeo specific competition boots that are designed for maximum effectivceness in all of the rough stock events, but you can "Get By" in the Bare Back or Bull Riding with any decent fitting western boot with at least a walking style heel. The critical issue is a solid heel counter (where the spur rides on your boot). Most standard western boots (ropers and rope style boots are amoung the worst) don't have a good solid heel counter. They are used a lot But they break down fast (causing your spurs to move out of position) and do not provide good protection (for you ankle and foot when you have contact with the spur... getting stepped on or having the animal run you down the bucking chute or fence). IF you are going to have to buy boots we'd strongly suggest you consider our Custom Competition Boots featured on our Rodeo Equipment Pages
- You'll recieve Lifetime Discounts on the purchases of A complete line of Professional Rodeo Equipment and Chaps. Special package discounts available to our students at the schools or anytime after! * NOTE: To receive the Student Discounts orders must be noted so with the required information when your gear is ordered by mail, on the phone, or on-line. *
- We'll help you fine tune YOUR equipment to meet your needs now and in the future. We are a resource long after the school is over. We are always just a phone call or E-mail away as we provide continued resources for you long after the school is over. I hear from former students nearly everyday and enjoy helping them as other helped me along the way.
- Guest speakers and P.R.C.A. Pros on staff at all schools and always available as a resource to you for as long as you rodeo even after the school is over!
- You'll receive a Bonus Portfolio (with several FREE Items - Value $40.00 plus), handouts and printed information to use as learning tools while at the school, and to help you continue to grow and develop your skills long after you leave the school. We will to remain a positive resource long after the school is over.
- Awards for Outstanding Students and Ride-Off Winners, and other special recognition are given out at the schools to encourage your best effort and to recognize student leadership at the schools!
- AGAIN... Check-In at most schools is 8:00 A.M. the first day. Classroom Sessions can run as late as 9:00 or 10:00 P.M. the first and second day of the school. We want to cover as much as possible while you are there. The last day is normally over mid to late afternoon but depends on how much livestock you want to get on that day. We don't work by the hour. We work for you and we stay until you are finished!
Be sure to check out our multiple Message Boards. They are set up for our friends, customers & students to: (1) post a review of their experience at the school they attended, (2) to find someone to share transportation to the schools with, and share a room with while at one of the schools, and (3) to share ideas and ask questions about their rodeo problems, to find out about equipment issues, get and share riding or equipment tips, to learn about practice opportunities in their area, to discuss rodeo business, and much, much more.
NEW - Active Military receive a $25.00 Bonus Discount good on any $100 plus equipment purchased at the school you attend.

N.F.R. Average Winner - Bare Back Riding P.R.C.A. World Champion Bare Back Rider
Dear Mr. Sankey, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for having such a qualified and knowledgeable staff... The entire staff at the school was by far the most positive-minded and professional group of people that I have ever had the privilege of associating with... Since the school I have noticed a change for the better in my riding technique... I would like to thank you for choosing such a fine staff and putting on such a professional school.
Sankey Rodeo Schools are comprehensive rodeo training programs. They are the perfect place for BEGINNERS (no experience needed) to get the best, fastest, safest, and smartest start in the sport of rodeo.
Sankey Rodeo Schools are the perfect place for VETERANS and EXPERIENCED RODEO ATHLETES to fine tune their riding and take their competitive efforts to the next level.
We do Bare Back, Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding, and Jr. Bull Riding (age 13 and under), along with Clown-Bullfighting schools. Just check the schedule to find a school that will fit your plans... Remember that you can do the "Vision Quest" Bull Riding & Bull Fighting Adventure Experience at any of the regular schools we do. You just enroll as a regular student and do not need a group. We adjut the program to fit once we identify your goals and ambitions.

- Our Rodeo Schools are designed to provide you with:
- Physical and mental training techniques essential for success in the sport,
- A solid foundation if you're a BEGINNER or NOVICE athlete, and...
- Fine tuning and support if you're an EXPERIENCED competitor ready to take your riding to the next level.
- Our Classroom Sessions go beyond riding and technical skills, and give you an in-depth look at many other important issues that are critical to be successful in rodeo competition:
- Rodeo Business Building Winning Attitude Getting Sponsorships... right where you are now Animal Rights Concerns Rodeo Training Conditioning Injury Response Rule Book Review * Realizing Your Potential Goal Setting Motivation Safety Considerations How to Get Started Rodeo Travel Tips Learning How to Win Becoming Consistent.
- We never forget that WE work for YOU. That's the difference in our program and many others out there.
We must have a deposit to hold a spot for you. On the outside chance that could just show up you will have to pay an additional $50.00 plus the regular tuition. Save some money and sign up as it's designed. We can not plan livestock or staff if we allow people to just drop in. The depsits are how we plan and prepare to give you the best possible rodeo school. Without exception, the problems always come from those who can't take care of business and won't work within the program guidelines. It's worth an additional $50.00 to have those destractions at the school. AND, if the session is full and doesn't have no shows you won't get in anyway (except the Ground School)... thanks...
So, What Does NOT Happen at our schools?
- I've heard of Goobers NOT wanting to come to our Schools because "we don't take you to the bar at night." That part is true but...
...while we are too busy with your training and rodeo business at the schools, and while I respect your time and investment more than that, don't get me wrong...
If that's your thing rather than winning, I'd be happy to do private sessions where you can pay me $350.00 to go to the bar and hold your hand and watch you make a fool of yourself just like you were another bum at any other rodeo school. Just like at our regular schools, I'll work for you... and you won't even have to get on bucking stock and prove that you talk better than you ride. This way, like at some of the other schools out there, you can find someone more drunk than you who'll believe, or pretend to believe you are really a cowboy!
We can provide FREE transportation to and from major airports and/or bus terminals (when possible with advance notice) for the rodeo school locations of NEW CANEY, TX (Geourge Bush International Airport) Only! We will have the contact information for you to use in your Student Confirmation/Information Letter when you sign up for one of these schools. Be sure to give us plenty of time in advance so arrangements can be made. We will need your Arrival Date and Time, Airline Name and Flight Number, Your Name and Cell Phone Number). At all other locations I'd suggest you use our New Message Boards to make arrangements for someone to pick you up and/or share lodging while at the school you want to attend.
